ADC Proud Recipient of Transformational Grant!!
After a very competitive process, featuring many of the state’s most impressive and promising nonprofit organizations, the African Development Center is proud to announce that it is this year’s recipient of the Transformational Fund Grant!! This support of $410,000 will enable ADC to meet growing demand for technical assistance and consulting services through our new ADC Business Consulting program.
If the first quarter of 2013 is any indication, this will certainly be a full and impressive year! Please enjoy this slide show presentation shown to the ADC Board of Directors, as we closed out the quarter.
ADC Contributes to Nobel Peace Prize Forum
The African Development Center was extremely proud to contribute to this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Forum with a session on Microlending. Presented to full crowds on both Saturday and Sunday, this panel discussion featured Hussein Samatar , Nasibu Sareva , Farida Mohamed , and Nimo Farah to highlight the impact that microlending is having in the world of economic development right here in our own back yard.

AfroUniversal: Impressions de Salvador
For this year’s AfroUniversal showcase event, the African Development Center is delighted to feature the unique and remarkable paintings of the rising star that is Salvador de Montesinos. Highlighting a new style of Impressionism painting developed by Salvodor and entitled Vectorism, ADC invites you to signup for a wonderful evening of art, food & music on Thursday, December 13th from 5:30 – 8:00pm. Free and open to the public, and featuring remarks from the artist himself!
ADC Hosts Delegation from Sweden
Thirty-one delegates from all corners of Sweden came to Minnesota this month as another chapter in an ongoing international discussion with the African Development Center. As another region that has welcomed a new community of immigrants and refugees from East Africa, Sweden is eager to learn more about the work of ADC and share best practices for not only co-existence but financial empowerment of this new population of residents – for the betterment of the larger economy.

First Annual ADC Business Awards a Success!!
The first annual ADC Business Awards Luncheon was held on September 14, 2012 at the Town & Country Club in St. Paul. This was our way of recognizing the growing community of African-owned businesses throughout Minnesota, and bringing further awareness of the positive economic impact they are bringing to the many cities and regions of the state. ADC Co-Hosts Africa Export Roundtable
On July 27th, the African Development Center co-hosted a roundtable discussion with U.S Representatives Keith Ellison and Karen Bass. This meeting was the first in an ongoing dialogue about the many opportunities and challenges in exporting goods and services throughout the continent of Africa. ADC was extremely pleased with the participation of this event, and looks forward to contributing to the discussion in the future.
