Comcast Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant to ADC
This fall, the Comcast Foundation awarded $10,000 to the ADC to support its new financial literacy and home ownership center, a state-of-the-art educational space for workshops and training.
“Not only is it important to provide financial literacy classes but the ADC wanted to train people in a high tech learning environment that also teaches digital literacy,” said Mary Beth Schubert, vice president of corporate communications. “We are glad to be part of this initiative.”
The funding will be used to support a wireless network with software, equipment, speakers and sound system. In the new center, clients will use online resources and perform tasks using electronic sources.
ADC plans to train 300 families by September 2010.
“We are already a customer of the Comcast Community Partners Program that provides a discount for our broadband internet and cable,” said Executive Director Hussein Samatar. “We value this program and are pleased to have the Comcast Foundation join us in improving financial literacy for our clients.”
The Comcast Foundation was founded by Comcast Corporation in June 1999 to provide charitable support to qualified non-profit organizations. The foundation invests primarily in programs intended to have a positive, sustainable impact on their communities. The foundation’s three community investment priorities are promoting community service, expanding digital literacy, and building tomorrow’s leaders. Since its inception, the Comcast Foundation has donated more than $77 million nationwide to organizations in the communities Comcast serves.
