Celebrating Small Business Development in Minneapolis

The celebration for the Great Streets program was hosted at ADC’s new home in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, a venue the Manager of the Seward Co-op described as the other anchor of Riverside Avenue.

The celebration occurred at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27th, and over sixty people came to hear stories about business successes, innovative programs, and how partnership can work to lift communities during the most difficult of times. This event was both a celebration acknowledging our small businesses, as well as an opportunity to promote neighborhood vitality through the Great Streets program.

City Council members Gary Schiff, Cam Gordon, and Elizabeth Glidden spoke at the event and each highlighted exciting developments in their respective wards. The City of Minneapolis is committed to taking an active role in fueling community economic development, and particularly through its efforts via the Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) initiative.

ADC and the city share a critical partnership, and the organization is proud to administer the Façade Improvement Grant Program on behalf of the City of Minneapolis along with other organizations throughout the city of Minneapolis. This event not only celebrates the successes of this collective effort, but it is also a testimony to the remarkable results that can emerge when governmental and community institutions come together to serve communities.
