Afro-Universal Launch a Success
ADC’s Afro-Universal exhibit showcases international and local African art. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Art, music, and lively discussions came together on December 17, 2009, as the African Development Center welcomed the community to an opening reception ADC’s Fine Art Gallery, a venue showcasing African-influenced art from local and international artists.
The opening reception included music from across the African continent, and featured artists, including local favorites and international sensations, such as Abdul Aziz, Wale Falade, WaKonia, and ARA Studio liaison. The artists participated in a talk-back discussion and mingled with attendees throughout the night. At least 100 people stopped by, including students and faculty from surrounding schools, members of the non-profit community, ADC partners and clients, and community members.
ADC’s new venue has emerged as a space for local talent to display and sell their pieces, as well as an educational institution for both art enthusiasts and community members. The gallery and exhibit are representative of their vibrant community, and the successful launch is just the beginning of many more artistic expressions about and from the African diaspora.
