August ADC Business Breakfast Roundtable

Hennepin County Commissioner, Peter McLaughlin, headed this month’s discussion, which focused mainly on the projects and development of the regional transit system. Commissioner McLaughlin has a well-known history with these issues, as one of the primary figures bringing the Hiawatha light rail line to reality in 2004.

Eager to speak on the many current and potential future successes related to new transit systems and projects, McLaughlin was also very willing to talk about areas in which others may feel improvements are needed – in such areas as the inclusion of low-income and minority participation in the decision making process of these projects.

Peter McLaughlin joined the Hennepin County Board in 1991. Commissioner McLaughlin’s leadership and achievements during his tenure on the county board reflect a strong commitment to public service and encompass the broad range of county programs and services. He is a passionate advocate for issues on transportation, the environment, education and the county library system. In addition to many other accomplishments, Mr. McLaughlin is actively involved in many community service organizations and innovative initiatives aligning efforts of the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the County Board, McLaughlin served three terms in the Minnesota Legislature, rising to the post of Assistant House Majority Leader.
