This month, ADC’s Executive Director, Hussein Samatar, discussed his recent travels to Sweden and the many challenges facing the new immigrant and refugee population in that country. Samatar recounted the stories, experiences, and knowledge gained by visiting another region of the world that has, similar to Minnesota, welcomed a new community of immigrants and refugees from Africa.
Samatar traveled to more than 11 different cities throughout the country and met with a number of local and national officials to discuss best practices for co-existence and integration of this new population of residents. His blog on these travels is located here, as a reference to some of the topics he discussed at this month’s roundtable.
