March Business Breakfast Roundtable

Mr. Selvaggio joined us on March 18th to talk about a nonprofit called MicroGrants, where people of means give $1,000 or more, tax-deductible gifts to MicroGrants. This money is then invested in the dreams and opportunities of low-income people with the potential to grow their way to self-sufficiency. Besides the money, the fortunate receivers develop a sense of pride, dignity and the possibility of building a career.

These “MicroGrants” to the needy individuals and small 501©(3) corporations are primarily, invested right here in Minneapolis neighborhoods, and Selvaggio plans to expand the program locally by 100 or more recipients per year, with the possibility of expanding to a national level.

As with all Business Breakfast Roundtables, this session was held at the African Development Center. On Thursday, April 14th from 7:30am – 9 am , we will hold a discussion headed by George Sherman, founder of Sherman Associates – an award-winning real estate developer based in Minneapolis. This discussion will explore the work and perspective of Sherman as well as topics of the future of residential and commercial properties in this region. Please mark this date on your calendar, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
