The Transformational Fund is a unique program of Minnesota Community Foundation made possible by the Pat and Tom Grossman Family Fund.

As the 52nd Police Chief of Minneapolis, Chief Harteau is faced with a demanding task in providing public safety and support to Minnesota’s largest city. This discussion was an insightful look inside the many challenges and aspirations of the Chief, as well as the diverse and demanding work of of the force.

To begin this year’s series of roundtable discussions (retitled Commerce and Community Conversations), the African Development Center was proud to welcome Ahmed Samatar as the lead presenter. A writer, academic, and former dean of the Institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College, Professor Samatar tossed his hat into the political arena as a candidate in the recent Presidential elections of Somalia, and spoke intimately about the many challenges and opportunities of that nation.
