ADC Client Becomes First African Vendor at the Minnesota State Fair!

The African Development Center is thrilled to share that ADC client and owner of Safari Express, Jamal Hashi, will be selling specialty foods at the state fair this year. Jamal will be selling his signature “Camel on a Stick,” combining this African delicacy with a state fair twist. He will also offer mango treats, sambusa, and other items at his stand. Jamal’s stand, serving the “Food of Kings” will be available from Monday, August 30th to Thursday, September 2nd in the International Bazaar at the Minnesota State Fair.

ADC Receives $750K Federal Grant!

The African Development Center is among the
180 organizations serving struggling communities that will receive CDFI funding for 2010! ADC will receive a $750,000 financial assistance award to increase lending within the organization’s niche market. The funds will fuel entrepreneurial activity and promote community economic development throughout the state of Minnesota.

Remembering Dania Hall

The African Development Center is honored to have received a historic piece from the Dania Hall site, which for so many years provided a sense of community to the various people in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.

This brick represents a gathering place which has since been lost. Dania Hall was an imposing Victorian which commanded the attention of every passerby on Cedar Avenue. Sitting in the corner of Cedar Avenue and Fifth Street, the structure looked like it had been there forever.

ADC Receives HUD Approval
